Bahía Concha is the Tayrona Park beach closest to Santa Marta: calm water, small waves and the shades that earned it the nickname «the sea of three colors». It is one of the few beaches in the park reachable by road, and you can go with children without hiking for hours.

Johnny Cay is the palm-fringed, white-sand islet you can see from San Andrés' main beach, about 15 minutes away by boat. Since 2001 it has been a Regional Natural Park managed by Coralina, the archipelago's environmental authority, and there is a park entry fee on top of the boat ride.

Bioluminescent plankton is a natural light show: microscopic organisms that flash blue whenever the water moves. Near Cartagena you see it in the Laguna Encantada on Barú island, and tours pair it with a beach day so you reach the lagoon right after dark.

Playa Blanca is the Santa Marta beach next to the Aquarium, in the El Rodadero area, and most visitors reach it by boat. Don't mix it up with Playa Blanca on Barú, in Cartagena: they are two different destinations in two different cities.

Playa Cinto is one of the bays of Tayrona National Natural Park, east of Santa Marta, and the only way to get there is by sea. It's a day-trip-only beach, usually paired with Playa Cristal on the same boat tour.

Inca Inca is a small cove between El Rodadero and Playa Blanca, surrounded by hills covered in dry forest and known for being quieter than the neighboring beaches. You can get there by boat in a few minutes or on a trail of about 40 minutes.

Playa Manzanillo is the beach of Manzanillo del Mar, a village in Cartagena's northern zone, on the road to Barranquilla. It is a calm cove between two headlands, and the most popular way to visit is the all-inclusive day pass at Hotel Estelar Playa Manzanillo.
